Volunteers working in the field of healthcare can be of tremendous value to local staff and medical facilities. Medical professionals as well as nursing students can help in treating cases of various diseases including malaria, tuberculosis along with taking care of child birth and maternal needs. In Delhi, volunteers work in hospitals, small clinics, old age homes, orphanages and shelter homes to assist the staff in the treatment of patients. They can educate and guide these disadvantaged people about sanitation, hygiene, nutrition and provide first aid facilities. Volunteers can help various organizations engaged in spreading information and awareness about HIV/AIDS. They can counsel, educate HIV patients and assist other groups engaged in HIV related programs.

The NGOs or State-run orphanages in India are full to the brim with children. They face problems of limited staff, resources and facilities. Volunteers can fill this gap by providing assistance to the orphanage staff in engaging children into fun activities to help them play and learn. They can provide non-formal education to the children and prepare them for school in addition to developing their extra curricular skills. The volunteers will participate in the daily routine activities of the orphanage and contribute their care and affection in working with the destitute orphan children. Street Children

About 100 million street children in India spend most of their time on the streets and have no access to education. In Delhi alone, there are an estimated 1, 65,000 street children of which 7-10 % are runaways. There are more than 3,500 children who live in and around New Delhi Railway Station. They can be witnessed scavenging the garbage heap for a meal and sleeping at platforms and between tracks. They are often abused, mentally and sexually and fall prey into the hands of drug peddlers, child traffickers and pimps. They are deprived of proper food, shelter, clothing, health and education. Volunteers can bring a smile on the faces of these marginalized and deprived street children by helping to create an environment conducive for their holistic development to enable them to become a part of the mainstream society. Volunteer work in India for street children comprises of taking informal education sessions with the children, playing games with them and introducing them to various new activities. Volunteers can support in providing love, care, and affection to the children as well as basic literacy and recreation. It can make an immense difference and enable them to dream again.

Volunteer to Teach English in India provides the volunteers a great opportunity to share their knowledge with others. Teaching is both a challenging and rewarding job. The more one gets involved, the more he/she learns. Working and living alongside local communities, understanding their challenges gives an international exposure to the volunteers. Volunteers will strive to create a positive learning environment for the children, which will encourage them to continue education throughout their lives. Besides working to educate and entertain the children, volunteer will be giving each child individual attention, care, and mentorship.

Women Empowerment

India is one of the fastest growing economies of the world. Though its women have achieved milestones in every walk of life and made their country proud, still due to the existing social, cultural, economic system and societal phenomena of the country, many women, especially in the rural community, are deprived from their basic human rights like education, health, nutrition, participation in government, etc. A large number of non-government organizations, besides the efforts put in by the government have come forward to help the disadvantaged and marginalized women. Volunteers provide counseling and improve livelihood options of women by providing adult literacy classes, training them on beautician courses, yoga, stitching, computers and also provide health education and awareness about HIV/AIDS. Volunteers make a big difference in their lives by sharing their love and warmth with these women.
