About 100 million street children in India spend most of their time on the streets and have no access to education. In Delhi alone, there are an estimated 1, 65,000 street children of which 7-10 % are runaways. There are more than 3,500 children who live in and around New Delhi Railway Station.

They can be witnessed scavenging the garbage heap for a meal and sleeping at platforms and between tracks. They are often abused, mentally and sexually and fall prey into the hands of drug peddlers, child traffickers and pimps. They are deprived of proper food, shelter, clothing, health and education.

Volunteers can bring a smile on the faces of these marginalized and deprived street children by helping to create an environment conducive for their holistic development to enable them to become a part of the mainstream society.
